BREAD AND WATER LYRICS - Free Labor (Camps)

BREAD AND WATER LYRICS

"Free Labor (Camps)"

Prison labor is slave labor

Trying to rehabilitate,

Or get cheap labor for the state?

Private companies now foot the bill

For the new prisons that we build

They generate thousands of man-hours a day

For dollars less than minimum wage

Prison labor is robbery

Tell them they’re working towards being free

No way to organize or protect themselves

Labor rights are human rights

Work for good behavior or to keep busy

Or they may never see the outside world

And what was the crime? Handling drugs?

Five years of free labor

When you don’t follow their laws

Prison labor is robbery

Pennies a day won’t support their families

We must give them a way to help themselves

Labor rights are human rights

When does a crime become so bad?

That you lose the rights that all people should have

Do they need a reason to lock you away?

Or are profits their motivation
